Temperley's bijection relates the toroidal dimer model to cycle rooted spanning forests (CRSF) on the torus. The height function of the dimer model
and the homology class of CRSF are naturally related. When the size of the torus tends to infinity, we show that the measure on CRSF arising from the dimer model converges to a measure on (disconnected) spanning forests or spanning trees. There is a phase transition, which is determined by the average height change.

We prove global existence, uniqueness and regularity of the mild, Lp and classical solution of a non-linear Fokker-Planck equation arising in an adaptive importance sampling method for molecular dynamics calculations. The non- linear term is related to a conditional expectation, and is thus non-local. The proof uses tools from the theory of semigroups of linear operators for the local existence result, and an a priori estimate based on a supersolution for the global existence result.
Many oil recovery procedures can be modelled using a coupled system of partial differential equations. The mathematical and numerical analysis of these equations is complicated by the rough nature of the data and the vastly different spatial scales observed. I will give a brief introduction to the problem, the mathematical model, and the difficulties we encounter.
